AbilityNet has developed an accredited national qualification in IT assessment of need which you can study in tandem with your existing job. This is a unique and practical qualification designed for anyone who wishes recognition for their work in the field of accessibility/technology. Because it is practice based, it is suitable for people who already do some work in this area.

The qualification awarding body is the National Open College Network (NOCN), one of the largest recognised awarding bodies in the UK, regulated by Quality Curriculum Authority (QCA). NOCN provide external moderation and verification of learning and achievement and award certificates detailing student achievements.

How the studies are structured

There are a series of modules which can be worked through singly, or as part of a programme, depending on your interests, the level of qualification you wish to achieve and the time available for study.

All modules are set at NOCN Level 3 and are portfolio based to include reflection, evidence and research. There is no formal teaching, although your assessor will be available for ongoing support by email and telephone and can join internet discussion forums with other students. We recommend you allow 10 hours study to complete one module.
