The AAT was established by the senior British accounting organizations including ICAS, ACCA and CIMA. Its purpose was to provide a professional body for people working in accountants offices, industry, commerce and government agencies who are engaged in various forms of accounting, or accounting related work, at the technical level. The AAT gives formal recognition to their skills through
an education and training course which accredits their many capabilities.

AAT is also ideal for those entering the accounting workplace from school, or from another type of employment, and who wish to acquire knowledge and understanding of accounting, with training in the production of various financial reports, at the same time as learning their new jobs.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

AAT has three stages: Level 2 Certificate, Level 3 Diploma and Level 4 Diploma. Candidates start at the stage appropriate to their qualifications and experience. Each applicant must phone or email the course leader in order to determine the appropriate starting stage for their situation.

COURSE CONTENT

Level 2 Certificate (Tuesdays)

Basic Accounting I, Basic Accounting II, Basic Costing,
Work effectively in Accounting and Finance, Computerized Accounting.

Level 3 Diploma (Wednesdays)
Accounts Preparation I, Accounts Preparation II, Cash Management,
Costs and Revenues, Indirect Tax (VAT), Spreadsheets.

Level 4 Diploma (Year 1 Thursdays) (Year 2 Tuesdays)
Financial Statements, Budgeting, Financial Performance, Personal Tax, Internal Control and Accounting Systems, External Auditing.
