Entry is subject to a successful interview and you will need to be PC literate.

Content
You will learn the practical application of accounting principals through a range of units and you will also develop your IT skills. There are two specialisms; Financial Accounting, which prepares companies for all external accounting requirements, and Management Accounting, which provides the techniques to enable companies to measure and control internal performance. Levels two and three are offered in year one. On successful completion of these stages you progress to year two to complete level four.
Foundation Level NVQ 2:

- Making and Recording Payments
- Ledger Balances and Trial Balance
- Information for Management Control

- Health and Safety at Work

Intermediate Level NVQ 3
- Maintaining Financial Records
- Recording Costing Information
- Preparing Reports and Returns

Technician Level NVQ 4:
- Management of Costs
- Planning and Allocation of Resources
- Management Accounting Systems
- Financial Statements
- Cash Management
- Evaluating current and proposed activities (work based project)
- Business Tax or Personal Tax
Assessment Through skills tests, external examinations and portfolio evidence. Progression Membership of the AAT provides interesting and varied job opportunities for career development in accountancy and management positions and offers high-earning potential. The level four is a short cut to higher education and will provide exemptions for the first year of a degree and in some cases the first two years.
Successful completion of the Level 4 qualification allows you to put MAAT after your name and undertake all accounting roles apart from Auditing which requires additional qualifications.
Level 4 also provides an excellent entry point in to the professional Accounting Qualifications including ACCA and CIMA where exemptions are also available for the first year.

Accounting NVQ2/3 is the first NVQ to be awarded UCAS points (160) and the AAT qualifications is highly regarded by Industry.
