Course Aims:
To produce competent level 2 students in an accounting discipline.
To enable progression to NVQ3 and NVQ4 in accounting and ultimately professional membership of the AAT.

Course Content:
All aspects of double entry book-keeping.
Information technology and its application within the accounting environment.
The appropriate classification of costs within business.
Achieving personal effectiveness - accounts related office skills.
Health and Safety at work.

Progression:
AAT NVQ levels 3 and 4.
Professional qualification with one of the major accounting bodies, or degree in accounting.

Awarding Body:
Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)

Exam:
Assessment is by means of a portfolio of work, skills tests during the year and an end exam.

Qualification:
NVQ level 2 in accounting

NVQ level 2

Other Costs:
AAT admission fee 32, payable direct to AAT in September.
AAT annual registration fee 69, payable direct to AAT in September.
AAT exam fee 39 payable direct to AAT in March. Please note that these fees are currently correct up to August 2009 and may be subject to change.
Students who are not in employment are also required to purchase 2 additional skills tests to cover the criteria for Personal Effectiveness and Health and Safety. These cost 14 each. (28 total )

Duration:
Each NVQ level takes one academic year.
