Course programme
By far the most important skill to develop as an actor looking to work in film and television is the ability to audition well. Too often actors find themselves let down in an audition environment because of nerves or inexperience. The good news is that there are a number of steps and techniques that you can follow to prepare for an audition that will help you to perform with confidence and authority.
In this 6 hour workshop director Graham Cantwell will talk you through the various stages of the audition process from both sides of the table. With practical examples and an inclusive approach you will learn about:
- Preparing yourself for audition
- Preparing a scene for audition
- Making brave choices
- The 10 minutes before the audition
- Making a good first impression
- Good audition technique
- Cold reading
- Rescuing an audition
- Working with an unresponsive partner
- Standing out from the crowd
- Figuring out what a director is looking for
- Taking direction and making adjustments
- Being prepared in order to be flexible
- The power of conversation
- Avoiding second guessing and post mortems
- Typecasting
- Active listening
- Callbacks
The course will appeal to actors at all levels of the profession, whether you are just starting out or are looking to refresh your audition skills with a new perspective.
