Course Overview
Automated External Defibrillation (AED) is no longer just for doctors and paramedics. Advances in technology now make it possible for rescuers with very limited training to save lives by providing defibrillation following sudden cardiac arrest. Over 270,000 people in the UK suffer from a heart attack every year. Clinical studies have shown that victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest who are defibrillated immediately have over 90% chance of survival. It's not acceptable to wait for an ambulance to arrive and defibrillate... by then it is too late. For each minute that passes a victim's chance of survival drops between 7-10 per cent.
