Who is it for?This single unit is approved by DEFRA and is suitable for competent MAC technicians who have a previous qualification (or experience) in air conditioning systems.Achievement of this qualification allows experience MAC technicians (working with cars and car derived vans) to continue to practice after 4th July 2010.MAC technicians must already have a good understanding of components and the system operation to carry out servicing procedures relating to air conditioning systems.This qualification became mandatory after the 4th July 2010, as from this date, EU Regulations require all MAC technicians to have achieved a refrigerant handling qualification (approved by DEFRA) meeting the F-gas Regulations. This qualification approved by DEFRA, offers a single unit solution that provides experienced automotive Mobile Air Conditioning (MAC) technicians with evidence that they meet the minimum F gas requirement (EC842/2006 and annex EC307/2008). Successful candidates will be issued with a certificate which shows they are compliant..

Minimum qualifications: Not applicable

What is the process?A short update on air conditioning followed by a practical test and an online exam.Individuals should already have a basic knowledge of the operation of Air Conditioning Systems containing fluorinated greenhouse gases in motor cars (and car derived vans), the environmental impact of fluorinated greenhouse gas refrigerants, the corresponding environmental regulations, and procedures for environment friendly recovery of fluorinated greenhouse gases.
