Established in 2004, The Avenue London Cookery School – now a family run school – thrives on all things foodie and incorporates love and enthusiasm into carefully structured courses.

The point is to teach our students of all ages and levels to understand food. It’s time to move away from cookbook dependency and start treating recipes as sources of inspiration and guidance.

We offer anything from 3-hour evening classes to 2-week Chalet Host courses – as well as anything bespoke for those special occasions!

Individually, and as a team, we have years of experience; discovered skills and handy tips to share with those who want to come and join our kitchen adventures.

Saturday Really Useful and Chalet Course

What I would highlight We spent a fantastic afternoon at the Avenue Cookery School for a friend's hen party. We were welcomed with wine and freshly baked bread, walked through some of the techniques we'd need for the day, and guided through the preparation of three delicious courses, which we all enjoyed eating during our formal sit down meal at the end of the day. The Avenue team were so helpful and fun and it was just what the hen needed. A big thank you to Sophie who was really responsive to the endless questions and menu planning we had beforehand. Everything ran so smoothly, we had a brilliant time.

What I would highlight Really great evening Diana gave us a fantastic demonstration which made cooking look incredibly easy and even inspired a total novice to have a go. She and her son, then got us working which was a great way to learn new skills and we even managed to cook something, certainly the best meal "I’ve ever cooked” which was then enjoyed by all.

What I would highlight This course was fun and informative and we had two very exciting and dynamic teachers, which made me enjoy even more. If you want to start somehow with cooking this is the perfect course for you. I gained confidence really quick. That is why I definitely recommmend it to anyone who wants to acquire great knowledge about cooking.

What I would highlight I wanted to thank you for a great cookery evening for my daughters 10th birthday. She had a ball and learnt so much from knife skills to making her own ravioli and cooking her own steak with red wine jus. We were busy last weekend following on from the many things you taught her and me along the way! I thought I knew a good deal about cooking but learnt several new skills / tricks that I have already put to good use. What I would highlight We had a wonderful time and everything was brilliant. The Birthday girl enjoyed it too and was very surprised! What I would highlight Before that course I was only able to toast bread... Now I have prepared several three course meals and have impressed my family! It was really fun, the teachers are great at communication and the recipes were easy to follow, but delicious. I highly suggest this course to anyone who is thinking about it.

What I would highlight My 22 year-old son attended this course during his gap year. It really helped him to have a good start with cooking and now he is trying to further develop his interests. Two days ago he prepared an 8 course tasting menu for 14 people!

Richard is Diana’s son, making The Avenue very much a family affair. His previous experience has included Chalet Hosting, prestigious Corporate Events and working as a chef in the South of France. Richard is a self-confessed Foodie, with an interest in modern cooking techniques. His flair for experimental cookery will certainly broaden your culinary horizons. Working extremely hard to share his enthusiasm with the students and push out the traditional boundaries, he is the youth and energy in the Kitchen.

Sophie, Diana’s daughter, is the latest addition to The Avenue family affair. Her previous experience in corporate entertainment means she can identify exactly what people want, down to the finest detail. Sophie is on a constant culinary journey of discovering new exciting recipes and restaurants – and she’s always up for releasing the fridge to create magic out of nothing. Good food leaves her absolutely spellbound. Having travelled extensively, this gypsy has cooked her way through the most exotic of lands.
