Course Description
This is a taught course designed for those wanting to work in a school enviroment supporting teaching and learning, for example as a teaching or learning support assistant.The course will be assessed though written and practical assignments to be completed in lessons at home or in the school placement. A CRB form will be completed at the beginning of the course.

Entry Requirements
A good standard of Maths and English. Level 1 Literacy and Entry 3 Numeracy. Original certificates must be produced or an assessment of skills will take place in the first session.

Modules Studied:

• UNIT 01 Develop Professional Skills and Knowledge
• UNIT 02 Support Teaching and Learning
• 15 hours work placement in school

Duration: 15 plus induction

Attendance Modes: Day

Assessment: Assessment is by portfolio of evidence, placement diary and witness observations. No examination.

Progression Routes: NCFE Cerificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, NVQ Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. Employment as Teaching or Learning Support Assistant in education sector.
