2. Course description This Level 3 introductory course is aimed at those considering working as a teacher in the Learning and Skills sector (post 14). This short course provides a valuable toolkit for new teachers that includes learning roles and responsibilities, approaches to learning, assessment as well as the opportunity to deliver a small scale teaching session. You need to have a specialist subject you wish to teach, and access to ICT to produce the written work. You can progress onto either the Certificate or the Diploma in Education and Training. 3. Entry requirements You must have identified a specialist subject you are interested in teaching, and should be able to demonstrate English and maths skills at a minimum of Level 2 (GCSE A* - C). You do not require any teaching commitments to participate in this course. You will need to have access to the internet, as well as be able to use basic word processing and presentation software in order to successfully complete the course. 4. Equipment required There are no additional costs for this course. 5. Assessment method The course is assessed at Level 3, and this is through the production of written coursework (using ICT), as well as the delivery of a 15 minute assessed teaching session to the group.
