Course programme

Course Content

The teaching and learning in this degree takes place within an active and diverse music department. In the first year, you will take core modules in studio production, composition, performance and musicology.

As you progress through the course, you will be able to tailor your degree to the aspects of music which most interest you, with modules focusing on film and game audio, composing for film, electronic composition, live sound, songwriting, interactive technologies, acoustics and studio design – as well as performance, production and composition.

The final year of the degree includes a major project. Typically, this could be the production of an album of songs, a substantial compositional work, a production portfolio, a written dissertation or writing music for film, animation or computer games.

Masterclasses from industry specialists, composers and musicians supplement lectures, seminars and workshops. You will be assessed through performance, practical coursework, group and individual presentations, and examinations.
