Course structure:
B Eng Degree Programme: Two semesters each of 15 weeks duration.
B Eng (Honours) Degree Programme: A further 15 week semester.
It is recognised that some students will need to defer progression from semester 1 to semester 2 and/or semester 2 to semester 3 to return to their employment. In such cases the BEng should normally be completed within a three-year period and the BEng (Hons) within a four-year period.
Entry requirements:
For entry to the B Eng programme students should normally have one of the following:
a) a Higher National Diploma in Marine Engineering from South Tyneside College or from any other UK institution offering the equivalent course, with a majority unit values at merit grade or above
b) an MCA Class 1 Certificate of Competency
c) qualifications deemed to be of equivalent academic standard to a) or b) above
