Course programme

Course Content Year 1

You will be introduced to the theoretical and practical concepts of Design through a range of projects and workshops. As part of the School of Design, you will participate in interdisciplinary collaborations and classes which will expand your thinking and approach to making work.

Year 2

You will explore graphic design principles, theories and working practices. Digital and analogue instruction will be covered in set projects and exercises. Research and conceptual rigour will drive project solutions and there will be opportunities for collaborative work. As part of the School of Design, you will also participate in interdisciplinary collaborations and classes which will expand your thinking and approach to making work.

Year 3

An externally facing professional practice year where there are a range of opportunities for internship, exchange, competitions and live projects with industry. Elective courses are available from within the wider University.

Year 4

Through set projects, self-initiated work and theoretical underpinning you will explore the process of design in greater depth, addressing the cycle of analysis, interpretation, trial solution and resolution. This time allows for focused exploration and consolidation and will enable you to identify and plan your own personal direction.
