Course programme
Students study six modules in each of the first two years of the degree. In Year 1 subjects covered include programming, databases, systems analysis and design, mathematics, and computer hardware.
Year 2 subjects include algorithms and data structures, object-oriented programming, networks and operating systems, and human-computer interaction.
In Year 3 students undertake a year's work experience, and can choose to work in the UK, Ireland or Europe. Students can also study in the USA. These options lead to either the Diploma in Professional Practice (placement year), or the Diploma in International Academic Studies if the year is spent in study abroad.
In Final Year students undertake four modules focusing on software systems development (Software Engineering, Enterprise Computing, Concurrent and Distributed Systems, Mobile Technology) and complete a major project in addition to a research studies and project management module. The project involves the analysis, design, implementation, testing and evaluation of a substantial software development problem.
