Year 1
In each year of full-time study, you will take 120 credits, made up of a number of units which are worth 30 credits each.
In Year 1 you will take 60 credits of core units from each of your two subjects.

In Year 2 you can choose the balance of your two subjects:
Equal study 60 credits from each of your subjects
Major/minor study 90 credits from the major subject and 30 credits from the minor subject

Enterprise Creation and Planning
This unit looks at the skills required to formulate and grow a business idea ready for the completion of a working business plan.
ENTREPRENEURIAL LEADERSHIPThe Unit will cover two main aspects of entrepreneurial leadership development 1) the transition of entrepreneur to successful business owner/manager: An understanding of leadership, with emphasis on distributed leadership and ethical leadership. The value of Empowerment and the ability to create innovation through collaboration and organisation. Intraprenurship, Strategic thinking, and social, environmental, and economic opportunity development, will also be considered. 2) The enhancement of Entrepreneurial Leadership Capabilities: This will consist of self-awareness; ethical decision making, effective communication skills, building trust, emotional intelligence, social identity, and proactive self-development.
Measuring PeopleThis unit explores the ways in which psychologists attempt to measure human behaviour, characteristics and abilities. The first part of the unit revisits quantitative methods from level 4 and introduces some of the more complex methods such as ANOVA. These methods will be applied to the core areas of biological psychology, cognitive psychology and intelligence, where appropriate, in the unit. The second part of the unit explores the biological basis of behaviour and will include: biological systems regulating behaviour, the neurobiology of sensation and cognition, and the biology of disorders. The next part of the unit examines how psychologists have investigated cognition. It will look at how cognitive psychologists have used both behavioural and physiological measurements to explore topics such as perception, attention, memory, language and thinking. The final part of the unit will examine intelligence and will explore how psychometrics has been used to study and assess human characteristics and abilities.
Understanding PeopleThis unit will introduce students to psychological investigations and explanations of how we understand people. The social psychology of human relationships will be explored within this unit. This will include a consideration of topics such as; attitudes, group behaviour, leadership and gender. Developmental issues such as attachment, cognitive development and self will be investigated. Also theories of personality will be explored as will methods of qualitative analysis.
