Course Content
  • Year 1

    In Year 1 you will study both human and physical geography disciplines and the environment. Core areas of study include introducing human geographies, earth systems, geography and environment tutorials and field activities which will include a residential field trip. You will also study further optional units from reflective study portfolio, uniwide languages.

  • Year 2

    In Year 2 you will study a field course unit which includes a residential field trip and preparatory material to support your third year research project. Additional areas of study include GIS and earth observation,ecology and diversity, social and cultural geography, geomorphological processes, natural resources and pollution, and climate and climate change.

  • Year 3

    If you opt for the four year sandwich route your third year will be spent on placement. If you opt for the four year study abroad route your third year will be spent overseas.

    Your final year allows you to specialise and build upon your first two years of study. Year 3 (or Year 4 of the sandwich route) includes your independent research project tailored to your specific interests. You select further areas of study from a wide range of specialised geography units that includes: Sustainable Production and Consumption, Spaces of Culture and Identity, Aviation and its Environmental Impact, Applied Geographic Information, Impacts and Models of Climate Change, Volcanoes and Applied Environmental Reconstrction, Global Environmental Change and Ecosystems, and Glacial Systems.
