Course programme

Course Content

This professional qualifying programme prepares you for a career in physiotherapy. You will undertake several practice placements, including an elective placement which can take place anywhere in the world subject to the approval of the University.

  • Year 1

    Year 1 includes core units in foundations in health, social care and professional practice, and three patient management units; cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal and neurological care, which will incorporate related anatomy, physiology and pathology and physiotherapy management skills.

  • Year 2

    Year 2 includes units which build on and integrate knowledge from the three patient management units of Year 1 and students undertake three practice placements supervised by highly qualified clinicians and supported by academic staff.

  • Year 3

    Year 3 includes two more practice placements as well as allowing students to choose their own final elective practice placement.

    Other units include Transitions to professional practice, consisting of reflective practice and employability skills,Critical thinking and enquiry module, providing students with an opportunity to apply research skills and develop a research proposal and a choice of two evidence based practice modules from topics such as pain,sports rehabilitation, paediatrics and critical care.
