Course Content

Students study six modules in each of the first two years of the degree. Year 1 subjects include computer programming, database systems, business information systems, systems analysis and design, and computer information systems technologies.

Year 2 subjects include internet and multimedia authoring, web database development, visual programming, professional issues, computer networks and operating systems, and human-computer interaction.
In Year 3 students undertake a year's work experience, and can choose to work in the UK, Ireland or Europe. Students can also study in the USA. These options lead to either the Diploma in Professional Practice (placement year), or the Diploma in International Academic Studies if the year is spent in study abroad.
In Final Year, students will complete a dissertation in addition to modules in advanced areas of computing technology, such as system security, interactive web development, network operating systems and knowledge management. The final year project involves the detailed development and evaluation of a practical IT application.
