B.Sc. Management and Leadership Development

The structure of the programme has been designed specifically to incorporate a focus on the development of knowledge, skills and competencies in areas of management and leadership.

At the beginning of year 1 you will attend a two day introductory induction residential involving outdoor team building and leadership activities. You will begin to appreciate the nature of the leadership skills and knowledge required for a career in business. This is supoprted by a range of first year modules including: Introduction to Management and Leadership, Effective Communication, Business and Economic Awareness, Management Decision Making, Using Information for Business and Understanding Money and Finance.

In Year 2 you will develop your skills and knowledge further by undertaking activities such as a ‘Dragons Den’ style pitch as part of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Module. In second semester, you will also undertake a group project in which you will work directly with a local employer on addressing an organisational issue. This is supported with a range of other year 2 modules including Human Resource Management for Business Leaders, Operations Improvement, Understanding People In Organisations and Marketing and Sales Management.

In Final Year, as part of the Management and Leadership Project module, you will undertake an individual project in which you will work with a local employer on an organisational issue. You will be fully supported throughout this module. You will also study modules in Business Strategy, New Directions in Management and Leadership, Change Management and Issues in Corporate Goverance.
