Course Content

This BSc (Honours) course is made up of 120 credits in each year. There are normally six 20-credit modules in each year. One module in each year is compulsory; the five optional modules can be studied in any order – this is planned and agreed for each student.

An example of a Nursing Studies degree course taken over two years looks like this:

Year 1

‘Core’ compulsory module: Study skills for lifelong learning in health and social care.

Optional modules: Work-based learning; caring for people with long-term conditions; supervising and mentoring practice; ensuring quality in healthcare; and a practice module.

Year 2

‘Core’ compulsory module: Research and evidence-based practice.

Optional modules: Practice module; highly dependent and critically ill child care; acute cardiac care; cancer care; and evidence-based dermatology.
