The programme puts all aspects of animal life under the microscope, from sub-cellular level to ecosystems, combining traditional Zoology and contemporary Biology in an exciting and rewarding course for 21st-century scientists. You can complete your final-year project as a member of one of our research groups or at Hulls award-winning submarium, The Deep. Placements in industry or in schools provide you with career insights. Optional subsidised dive training and field trips in the UK provide a wider perspective of the animal kingdom.

Course programme
In your first year, you study key concepts and learn key skills through modules including:
- Biodiversity
- Ecology
- Evolution
- Cell Biology
- Genetics and Skills for Biological Sciences.
The second year includes the core modules Professional and Research Skills for Biologists and Animal Form and Function as well as a choice of modules for your specialisation such as Conservation Biology, Evolutionary Biology, Behavioural Ecology or Geographical Information Systems.
Year 3Your final year includes residential field studies, an optional placement in industry, and a research project which you can complete as a member of one of the faculty's research groups or at Hull's award-winning submarium, The Deep. You will also choose from a range of advanced modules which include Wildlife Management, Sensory Physiology of Animals, Insect Biology and Freshwater Fisheries and Conservation, and Biomechanics.
