Course programme
The first year of the course gives you an introduction to the theory and history of war and its relationship to politics. You will study the Nature of Warfare and Military and Strategic History, with an emphasis on the 20th century.
Year 2In Year 2 you will undertake a more advanced study of International Security and Foreign Policies, supplemented by a wide range of module options which cover best practice in military strategy and the main forms of military power, irregular warfare and nuclear weapons.
Year 3The final year gives you considerable scope to structure your own degree: you complete a dissertation on a topic of your choice and select options which include The United States in Vietnam, Intelligence Studies, Nuclear Strategy and Maritime Security.
