Course programme

BA Honours in Hospitality Management (University of Derby)

Students who have completed their HND or have an eqivalent qualifiction may join this course. London Hotel School works in collaboration with the University of Derby to deliver their BA in Hospitality Management in London. The course is a "top-up" to the knowledge the student has learned during the HND course and it builds on the students’ practical experience and knowledge and takes them to a higher level of learning. This course requires students to complete assignments for each module by carrying out primary research, as well as research using books, journals, and the extensive online resources of the University. The course has two entry dates each year: one in January and one in September. Classes are more informal and often take the form of tutorial and seminars.

The course comprises six taught modules; these are:.

  • Advanced Consumer Behaviour – 6SZ005
  • Delivering Added Value – 6HO003
  • Food and Beverage Development – 6HO020
  • Human Resource Management and Business Strategy– 6SZ003
  • Independent Study– 6HO998 (dissertation)
  • Managing Cultural Diversity– 6HO006
  • Risk Management – 6SZ002

Students may continue to work either full time or part time during this course (EU students may work full time and non EU students for 20 hours per week. The hotel where the student did their work placement is usually only too happy to keep the student working in their previous position.
