This course specialises in training you to teach across the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 curriculum in Early Years settings and Primary schools (ages 3-7). The recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status also enables you to teach in Key Stage 2. If you are committed to becoming an outstanding, creative teacher of young children and want to acquire a deep understanding of how they develop and learn, then this is the programme for you. You will learn how to enthuse and inspire young children with creative teaching while developing your own expertise and receiving individual support to meet your needs. You will follow a number of strands throughout the degree which will lay the basis of your development as a teaching professional.

About this course

Early Years is a rapidly growing sector within education and Early Years trainees work in schools and settings across the UK. You will qualify as an Early Years Teacher who is able to bring early years practice and underpinning knowledge of child development to your first teaching post, whether this be in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.

120 UCAS Tariff points on the new UCAS Tariff, for which no specific subjects are required but which should include A Level grades BB or equivalent. You will also need GCSE Mathematics, GCSE English Language and GCSE Science at Grade C or Grade 4 or above (or equivalent).

How will I be assessed?

Your learning will be assessed in a variety of ways, including your classroom practice, portfolios of school-based work, written assignments, oral presentations and your teaching in schools and settings. You will be given clear assessment criteria and constructive feedback to enable you to improve further. There are no formal written examinations as part of the current assessment methods on this programme.

You will be taught by a range of highly qualified and experienced tutors including practising Early Years teachers.
