This programme is primarily aimed at those students progressing from the Foundation Degree in Early Years Practice, although progression from other related Foundation Degrees may be possible. You will develop skills and knowledge related to early years practice and develop your conceptual understanding as an early years graduate practitioner.

If you already have an Early Years foundation degree and you are in a practice-based role wanting to ‘top up’ to a full honours degree then this is the course for you.

Course programme

You will focus on aspiring to work with and manage provision in early years settings within a range of contexts.

You will also learn how to boost your personal and professional development as a trained Early Years worker in the workplace.

How will I study?

The programme uses a variety of teaching methods, including lectures / presentations, collaborative group work, individual directed tasks and placement. Attendance is one afternoon per week with additional online support.

FDP3000 Demonstrating Critical and Personal and Professional Effectiveness in Early Years (30 credits)

FDP3001 Working Collaboratively to Meet the Needs of Each Child (30 credits)

FDP3002 Managing Play-based Provision in Early Years Settings (30 credits)

FDP3003 Early Years as a Career: Leadership and Teaching ( credits)




Supported learning using the internet and Edge Hill University’s online resources is a major feature of the programme. No prior IT experience is necessary, as full support will be provided.
