About this course

Completion of the FdA Editing and Post Production at grade C (44%) or above or equivalent, and Level 2 Contextual Studies unit (FDC201) at grade C (44%) or above or equivalent. All applicants will be subject to meeting threshold achievement criteria and a selection interview.

Course programme

Level 3 Only (One Year Top-Up Degree)

Your learning will be vocational and concentrate on developing graduate-level skills through a range of self-initiated projects and hands-on training with the latest industry equipment.

We are partnered with some of the leading names in post production software and services including Apple, Avid, Film Master and Quantel. You will have access to advanced post production and studio facilities, professional instruction from industry-qualified tutors and ongoing support to help you on your way to a successful broadcasting career.

Ravensbourne is one of a handful of feeder institutions to the media industry, with whom it works in partnership to ensure that its courses respond and continually adapt to industry's needs.

Level 3

Core topics include: professional skills for post production; advanced skills for post production; Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, Personal and Professional Development and Contextual Studies.

Assessment

You will be assessed through the completion of practical and written work including essays, analysis, individual and group presentations, a dissertation, technical tests and the production of programmes and content.

Learning and Support

The course give you access to the necessary people, facilities and resources that will help you develop professionally. Your learning will be delivered through tutorials, practical exercises and projects guided by teaching staff and external broadcasting professionals.

Progression

Successful graduates of this course can continue their study and apply for the postgraduate course in MA/MSc Broadcast Futures.

Payment of Fees

Students may pay fees either directly to the college or by applying for a tuition fee loan.

Where students are paying fees directly to the college, tuition fees are due in full at the start of the academic year or by the dates stated above if a discount is being claimed.

Where agreement exists to pay by instalments, fees are payable as follows:-

  • 40% of the tuition fee + registration fees (if applicable) + administration charge on enrolment.
  • 30% of tuition fee at the start of the second term.
  • 30% of the tuition at the start of the third term.

Should a student withdraw from a course during the year, tuition fees will be charged as follows:-

  • Withdrawal during the first two weeks nil
  • Withdrawal before 1st January First terms fees payable
  • Withdrawal on or after 1st January Full years fees payable
  • Where Registration fees are charged these are payable on enrolment at the start of the academic year and are not refundable.

Island Students (Channel Islands & Isle of Man): £TBC Arrangements can be made with the finance office to pay tuition fees in three termly instalments. There is an administration charge of 1% of the full year's tuition fee (minimum £20) for making this arrangement Tuition fees are subject to increase for subsequent years of the course.
