Course introduction: This course allows you to develop your knowledge and skills in the area of financial services while at the same time preparing you for employment or further professional studies in the field. You can enter directly into Year 3 or 4 of this advanced entry course depending on your previous experience and qualifications. This course has been developed after consultation with Scotland’s leading financial institutions to meet the need for staff within the financial services industry.

About this course

To apply you'll need to be either a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Scotland; or  an associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute; or a holder of a Financial Planning Certificate; or have an equivalent qualification. Course programme

This programme is designed for those that already have a financial services related professional qualification, such as MIOBS, ACII, and AFPC. There are a number of pathway options available - the Banking Pathway (for MIOBS qualified entrants), the Insurance Pathway (for ACII qualified entrants) and the Financial Planning Pathway (for holders of FPC and AFPC qualifications). You'll learn the foundations of financial responsibility, including corporate finance, fund management, banking or insurance broking; as well as time management, project management, communication, collection and management of data and IT. This flexible course is studied part-time through distance learning for between one and four years, depending on your initial entry qualification. Identical in duration and content to a part-time course, this option replaces campus attendance with specially developed printed and online learning materials. You can study at your own pace, in your own time. Below you'll find an indication of the subjects you could study on this course.
