You will study through a mix of practice, research and theory-based learning. This will include lectures, seminars, workshops, individual tutorials, self-directed study and projects. You will be supported by well-qualified teaching staff, sessional staff and visiting professionals who will bring an industry perspective to the course.
Year 1
You will build fundamental skills in contemporary graphic design tools, typography, information design, creative coding and design for promotion. We encourage you to start thinking about your contextual studies research throughout this year.
Year 2
You will gain advanced skills in the graphic design process, developing experimental approaches and techniques. We set briefs that encourage you to collaborate with other students and help you to further your contextual understanding of the industry and graphic design.
Year 3
You will bring together your work in an industry ready portfolio whilst at the same time being encouraged to enter external competitions and festivals. You will also undertake a self-directed major graphic design project for exhibition at the degree show. We ask you to show your contextual studies research and thinking in a long form dissertation.
