New course for September 2018BA Interior Design will be replacing the FdA Interior Design at Chelsea.BA Interior Design at Chelsea College of Arts is a course with an emphasis on collaborative, provocative and innovative design for future environments.The course works in partnership with organisations, practices and key individuals from the design industry. During the course you will be able to work on a range of live projects from small-scale furniture and product design, through to large-scale proposals for public and private interiors. Content: what students can expect- To work in our design studio and be set professional briefs, giving you an understanding of a real working environment and introducing you to issues related to designing public interior spaces, such as planning and ergonomics
- A wide range of live projects, from small scale briefs such as furniture and product design, through to large scale proposals for commercial and retail interiors that engage and develop your creative, technical and analytical abilities
- To produce work ranging from small to large-scale interior schemes, examining all aspects of an interior design brief from conception through to completion
- To explore interior design disciplines and skills including computer aided design, drawing, model-making, photography, testing and researching
- An architecture and design lecture and seminar programme
- To have access to Chelsea's shared workshops including laser cutting, photography, metalwork, woodwork and audio visual editing suite. View the Chelsea facilities section

Will look at design for individuals and focus on physical making and prototyping of interior furniture and products.
Unit 1: Introduction to interior design media - methods and processes
Unit 2: Design objects
Unit 3: Design contexts
Unit 4: Critical and contextual studies
Will look at design for public interiors and focus on work and retail environments, digital skilling and professional practice.
Unit 5: Professional practice
Unit 6: Design media
Unit 7: Design project
Unit 8: Critical and contextual studies
Will focus on career pathways into industry or give you the opportunity to develop design research. It is delivered in partnership with professional practitioners and devised in conjunction with the Chartered Society of Designers (CSD).
Students will be able to select from 3 specialisms:
- Private interiors - residential and hospitality
- Public interiors - retail, commercial, leisure
- RED - research, enterprise, design innovation
