People were friendly and teachers were excellent, they offered great facilities and everything was great. University was good and I had a nice time in all, thanks for everything.
The Journalism combined honours programme at Buckingham is based around the notion of ‘total journalism’ – the belief that an effective journalist should be confident and proficient in the skills needed to produce compelling stories in any medium, whether online, in print, on air or on mobile. Equally important is the ability to engage in the media employment market either working for an organisation or as an independent. We firmly believe there is no such thing as an unemployed journalist. The programme is taught by practising journalists with a love of sharing their expertise and knowledge. Groups are small and dynamic, and rely on close interaction to allow each student to develop a real sense of professional principle and personal style.

Course programme
A substantial element of learning takes place in a newsroom environment as students will, from early in the degree programme, be producing copy, audio, and video for the University’s live news bulletin, Buckingham News, which is broadcast every Wednesday. Journalism students also have the right to an hour of airtime on the University radio station, Bucks 101.The programme includes modules on broadcast journalism, principles of media practice, and data journalism, together with more specialist courses such as investigative reporting and sports journalism. Public Relations is an increasingly lucrative area for those with journalism skills and the programme also looks at how graduates can adapt their skills for this arena. The English Literature minor offers an understanding of contemporary literary and cultural theory while never losing sight of the values of liberal education. Students read widely and through a combination of period study and thematic study achieve an informed understanding of the discipline with reference to the critical debates that animate it.The Journalism with English Literature degree has a proud tradition of producing graduates with outstanding powers of analysis and the techniques needed to enable them to communicate their ideas compellingly. This is the 2-year, or 2-year (+ 1 term) format of the degree (UCAS code P5Q3). You get the same number of teaching weeks as the 3-year degree, but complete the syllabus in a shorter time by working an extra summer term. This is for those who want to complete more quickly, and so begin their career, or progress earlier to further training or a higher degree. For the 3-year format of this BA, with summer break, see BA Journalism with English Literature 3 Years | September. Our recent graduates have gone on to pursue careers in journalism, media, writing, teaching, publishing, marketing, and business.Modules available on this course
