The MGeol in Geological Hazards is an integrated undergraduate and masters degree course. It will give you the modern practical, technical and transferable skills that are essential for developing a successful career as a professional geoscientist, specialising in the prediction and mitigation of geological hazards. Such hazards include volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis and landslides as well as those arising from human activities such as mining. In the fourth year you will work on an extended research project and receive intensive training in advanced analytical techniques.

Year One

The first year assumes no prior knowledge of geosciences and is designed to give a broad-based introduction to the subject as well as an understanding of the applications of maths, IT, physics and chemistry to geoscience problems.
