OUTLINE OF DEGREE STRUCTURE
This degree can be undertaken full-time over three years or on a part-time basis over a minimum of six years.
The Bachelor of Commerce requires the completion of units of study worth 144 credit points, comprising:
- 36 credit points in core units of study, composed of five junior units (30 credit points); and one six credit point senior unit;
- a major selected from the Commerce major subject areas;
- an optional second major and/or elective units of study selected from any of the Business School, Economics and Econometrics subject areas or from any other faculty of the University of Sydney (subject to approval of the faculty offering the unit and degree requirements);
- a maximum of 60 credit points in junior (1000 level) units of study; and
- a minimum of 96 credit points in units of study from the University of Sydney Business School and Economics and Econometrics subject areas from the School of Economics (Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences).
Core units of study
All students complete six core units of study (five junior core units and a senior capstone core unit). Full-time students must complete all five junior core units of study in a set sequence within their first year of enrolment. The senior core/ capstone unit is completed in the final year of enrolment.

Majors and electives for 2016
In the Sydney Bachelor of Commerce, 2016 commencing students select at least one major from the following subject areas to fulfil the requirements of their degree:
- Accounting,
- Business Analytics,
- Business Information Systems,
- Commercial Law,
- Econometrics,
- Economics,
- Finance,
- Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management,
- International Business,
- Management, and
- Marketing.
A major consists of a minimum of 36 credit points in senior units of study (usually six 2000 or 3000 level units) in a single subject area. Subject to degree requirements, you may also complete a second major and/or electives from the Business School or from the faculties of Agriculture and Environment; Arts and Social Sciences; Education and Social Work; Science; Sydney College of the Arts (SCA) (electives only); or other faculties of the University of Sydney. The degree structure provides for the completion of two majors, which can be an asset in a competitive job market.
