As a secondary teacher, you can contribute to the development and further growth of keen young adult minds in the real world. You can share your passion for your chosen teaching areas.
In the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) you will choose a major and a minor teaching area depending on your desired career outcome. A good background in your selected teaching areas at Year 12 level (or equivalent) is strongly recommended.
Why choose this course?
History helps us to make sense of the past so we can understand the present, and historical knowledge is fundamental to understanding ourselves and others. As a history teacher you can enable your students to develop their curiosity and imagination by actively involving them in learning about the past. You will learn to teach history so that your students will inquire into the traces of the past like detectives, by asking meaningful questions. You will help them to investigate sources about the past as evidence, and to interpret, analyse and evaluate this information to form meaningful conclusions and become informed citizens.
With QUT’s Bachelor of Education (Secondary) degree, you will gain an understanding of approaches to teaching and planning instruction in history for the senior and junior years of schooling. You will be taught by leading academics and equipped with quality support and cutting-edge resources. You will be prepared to teach subjects in the Australian Curriculum.
