Course programme

Classical Voice students receive 1:1 vocal tuition as well as instruction in the three major languages necessary for classical singers – Italian, German and French.
There are also classes in sight-singing and specialised aural training for singers, English diction, basic grammatical structure, stagecraft and theatre skills, choral direction and use of the International Phonetic Alphabet.
The Elder Conservatorium has an outstanding choral tradition with two auditioned choirs - the Elder Conservatorium Chorale (SATB) and Bella Voce (female voices only) providing Classical Voice students with extensive ensemble skills and experience.
The Conservatorium has also developed a new collaboration with the State Opera of South Australia enabling all Classical Voice students to participate in operatic and music theatre productions on an annual basis.
This new collaboration builds on the Conservatorium’s tradition of presenting fully staged productions.
In recent years, these productions have included: Orfeo (Monteverdi), Suor Angelica (Puccini), The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, Cosi fan tutte (Mozart), Hansel & Gretel (Humperdinck), Dido & Aeneas (Purcell) and Into the Woods (Sondheim).
Academic Program Rules The Calendar is a comprehensive handbook of the University's academic program rules.
