Course programme

From early in first year, students attend lectures three days per week and will be on clinical placement for the remaining two days, allowing the integration of theory into practice.
In the second and third year of the degree students attend two days of university and three days of placement.
University-based study and clinically based learning are central to student learning.
Full-time Nursing students can expect to spend about 12–25 hours on campus each week in lectures or tutorials, between 8am and 9pm, Monday to Friday.
Students will also attend clinical placement from early in their first year, which will involve a range of shifts (including weekends).
Attendance at all clinical placements is compulsory.
The amount of contact time often approaches 40 hours per week, with each year of the degree extending beyond and across the usual academic periods.
A strong commitment to the degree is required.
Part-time students can complete the Bachelor of Nursing by following the strict course structure which can be obtained by contacting the School of Nursing.
The courses to be completed each semester are non-negotiable and students must attend the associated clinical placements.
Enrolled nurse pathway This pathway is designed for enrolled nurses who wish to study to become registered nurses.
Applicants must be registered as an enrolled nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (or be eligible for enrolment).
Successful applicants will be granted one year’s (full-time) credit towards the Bachelor of Nursing.
Applicants considering this pathway need to be aware of the need to complete a rural placement, which begins early in the year of enrolment.
