Course programme

Structure and assessment Program Structure

You are required to complete 20 units, comprising of 19 core units and one elective.

Course information

For example units you could study as part of the Bachelor of Nursing course please click here.

As CQUniversity is committed to providing quality, up-to-date and relevant education, please note courses are refreshed regularly and may not be an exact indication of course availability for your study. Please call 13 27 86 if you have specific questions regarding course information regarding your specific application.

Work integrated Learning

You are required to undertake clinical placements during your studies. However before you undertake any placements you need to provide evidence to show that you have completed the required mandatory checks including immunisations, first aid and CPR and police checks. These checks are set by our health industry partners and by the Queensland Government. It is strongly recommended that students start gathering mandatory check evidence early, as some requirements such as immunisations can take up to 6 months to complete. During the Bachelor of Nursing degree you will be required to complete a total of 800 hours clinical placement. You may have to travel to attend this placement and due to large student numbers, each student is offered one placement per study unit. There are no swaps or changes, unless exceptional circumstances can be proven. Information regarding clinical placements can be found both on CQUniversity’s placement system Sonia and on the Clinical Placement Moodle page.

Residential Schools

Compulsory Residential schools are undertaken by students studying via distance education and are held for some units as an alternative to on-campus Clinical Learning Centre classes for internal students. Residential school pre-allocations will occur for a number of courses each term to ensure all students are able to access a residential school prior to their placement dates. For more information visit the Nursing Central Moodle page.
