Introduction
Barbering is an exciting career option. It is creative, satisfying and very varied. The work can be quite physically demanding, but is fun and provides a very social career choice. It is designed to lead to many varied career routes within the industry â€" barbering salons, luxury hotels, health spas, cruise ships or setting up your own business are just some of the options that you could consider with this level 2 award.
Course Content
This is a nationally recognised qualification awarded through VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust). It is designed to lead to the many varied career routes within the industry if you progress through the various higher levels.

All 9 units must be completed to gain full qualification. This is a basic entry point into the industry and can lead on to the NVQ Level 3 Barbering.
Entry Requirements
Students are selected by interview. At least one GCSE grade C or above is required. it is also expected that students are enthusiastic and interested in the subject, posses a good standard of maths and English with good communication skills and have a friendly, caring manner.
Duration
The course is run as a part time programme of study over 1 year. The award is comprised of 9 units, 6 mandatory and 3 optional
Assessment
After initial delivery of the units there is continual assessment of practical skills with oral questions and homework tasks. These form the basis for a completed portfolio together with externally set end test papers.
