BARBERING (NVQ Level 2)

Why should I come to Pendleton College?
At Pendleton we have superb facilities, resources and equipment especially for students studying Hairdressing. We have strong links with Wella and local salons and benefit from this in a number of ways including free workshops.

What will I study?
You will study the following units on this course:

• Cut hair using basic barbering techniques
• Cut facial hair using basic techniques
• Health and safety
• Advise and consult with clients
• Shampoo and condition hair and scalp
• Dry hair to shape to create finished looks for men
• Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
• Promote additional products and services

What will I achieve?
You will receive an NVQ Level 2 in Barbering that will prepare you for employment in barber shops or for you to do mobile work.

How is the course assessed?
A portfolio of evidence must be produced to include:

• Practical assessments
• Client consultation sheets
• Photographic evidence
• Unit assessments
• Written tests
• Oral questioning

What else will I do?
You will work in industry one day per week to gain additional experience. You will also have the opportunity to join in competitions and visit shows, attend seminars and visits.
