Barista Skills VRQ Level 2

What will I study?
• The history of Coffee, Tea and Chocolate
• Bean and leaf varieties, countries of origin and style characteristics, and how to prepare and serve drinks correctly
• Barista menu terminology
• Juices and smoothies – including fresh and processed options
• The health benefits of a range of fruits and vegetables and their uses in juices and smoothies
• How to identify, use, maintain and clean a range of specialist equipment
• Essential skills like food safety and hygiene
• Effective communication methods
• Customer service

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed via two examinations • A theory based short answer test paper • A timed observation of your practical skills when preparing, making and serving a specified range of drinks

You will use high specification equipment in order to prepare you for work within this exciting industry.

What can I progress to?
On completion of the course you could progress on to Level 2 Diploma in Food and Beverage Service or Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality, Supervision and Leadership.
