Aim:
This unit will give you the basic Italian needed to nexchange personal information, obtain and provide goods/services and understand simple written texts. The unit aims to provide Italian which is simple, but useful for everyday situations.
Length of Study:
18 weeks of tutor support.

There are no formal entry requirements. No previous study or knowledge of Italian is expected.
Contents:
There are six units in the Distance Learning pack. They are: Ordering in a Bar, Exchanging Personal Information, Jobs, Daily Routine, Booking a Hotel Room, Understanding Written Texts - Letters, Advertisements, Short Articles.
Students are also expected to buy the book used as a basis for the course: Contatti' A First Course in Italian, published by Hodder and Stoughton. Complete pack containing CDs and book.
Study Method:
Home-based self-study with tutor support, which may be on-line or over the phone.
Assessment:
There will be short assessments in each of the three main areas of the language: exchanging personal information, obtaining and providing goods and services and understanding simple written texts.
Assessments can be adapted to take account of each student's particular areas of interest. The assessments will be carried out under supervision in an agreed venue.
Cost:
£105 + £12.75 SQA Fees.
