Basic communication skills for Dental Nursing

Effective communication involves being aware of what we are saying, how we are saying it, and how it is being interpreted by other people. The skills which the oral health professional can use to convey messages and to recognize how they are interpreted are classified as verbal, paralinguistic (voice tone & volume, speed of speech, expressions) and nonverbal (gesture, facial expression, eye contact body language & clothes).

Knowing effective communication eliminates potential barriers which may impact on the delivery of message.
