Course Description
The students will study in the purpose built workshops and classrooms based at the Kirkby Centre. The course will develop the required Painting & Decorating/Interior Design skills and knowledge that will achieve the awarding body requirements.
Entry Requirements
GCSEs: At least 4 GCSEs at Grade E one of which must be English. (Maths required for some subjects)
Modules Studied:
- 006 Painting a timber window frame
- 007 Applying emulsion to walls by roller
- 008 Painting doors and frames
- 009 Applying oil-based paint to walls by roller
- 062 Removing and hanging wallpaper to walls
- 063 Hanging wallpaper to ceilings and then applying paints
- 010 Removing rust and priming metal
- 013 Using broken colour techniques
Awarding Body: C>EMPBR
Level: L1
Duration: 1 year
Attendance Modes: Day
Assessment: This is a practical course and the candidate will be assessed on the 8 practical tasks listed above. The candidate will also be required to answer verbal questions relating to the tasks. The candidate will produce a portfolio.
Progression Routes: You can continue your studies onto Level 1 Diploma, or move to a work-based vocational course if employment is secured.
