• Primary and secondary assessment of a casualty
• Summoning help
• How to deal with a conscious/unconscious casualty
• Administration of CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation)
• The recovery position
• The contents of a first aid kit
• Reporting and recording accident details
• Effective treatment for: diabetes, epilepsy, hypothermia, choking, shock, bleeding, fractures, burns, heart attack, head injuries

Aims and objectives

To give candidates confidence and skills to deal with a first aid incident.

The candidate will:
• Be aware of the current first aid protocols
• Be aware of the reporting procedures for accidents/injuries
• Be able to prioritize a multiple casualty incident
• Be skilled in CPR and current first aid techniques to deal with medical emergencies

This training provides information and practical skills regarding treatment for the purpose of preserving life and minimizing the consequences of injury or illness until medical help arrives. It also provides knowledge about treatment of minor injuries, which would otherwise receive no treatment.
