Suitability Anyone wishing to acquire skills to take on most plumbing tasks around the home without having the need to call a plumber. The course is mostly practical with lots of hands on practice. You will be shown how to use a range of plumbing tools, work safely and take precautions to prevent damage to your property. At the end of the week you will have gained the confidence and competence to tackle most basic home DIY plumbing tasks.

Basic Plumbing

Cutting and bending of copper pipes

Water systems, direct and indirect and drainage

Soldering of joints

Cutting and joining plastic waste pipes

Washing machine Plumbing

Repair dripping taps

Repair/replace a toilet cistern system

Design layout of a bathroom suite

Draining and recharging a heating system

Removing and replacing a radiator

Plumbing work is basically quite straight forward, but it can be repetitive; whatever the project, and you may end up doing the same thing over and over again. However, that does not make the work less rewarding, because the end product can have many benefits, especially financial. For example, new fittings can improve your bathroom or kitchen, while new taps can banish drips and plumbing in your washing machine will put an end to all that fiddling with hoses on wash day.

To become a good do-it-yourself plumber, you need to understand how your plumbing system works, familiarise yourself with the materials and tools, master the basic techniques and decide what jobs you can undertake.
