School leavers should have 4 GCSEs at grade D (preferably C) in English, Maths, Science or Technology.
A BPEC aptitude test (of which a 70% pass is needed) and an interview will also be required. Mature applicants with other qualifications or work experience are welcome to apply.

Course Content: This course is aimed at new entrants who wish to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to obtain employment within the plumbing industry. The qualification also forms part of the modern apprenticeship framework.
There are 13 units within the qualification that cover both the practical and theory aspects of plumbing at level 2. These include cold water and hot water systems, central heating (not boilers), health and safety, practical skills, working with plastic, copper and carbon steel pipe, weathering materials, sanitation systems, plumbing principles etc.
Special Features: Each module is assessed via an online test that is set externally by the awarding body. Each of the 60 practical tasks is assessed under timed conditions and the candidate builds up a portfolio of evidence to show they have met the necessary standards.
Course Format: Full time " 3 days per week and applicants must ensure they can attend all classes before accepting an offer
Progression: Current employment prospects within the plumbing industry are good. Successful candidates may progress onto the NVQ 2/3 MES plumbing if employed. Key Skills qualifications are an important part of the course and studied to maximise future employment opportunities.
