Course programme

As BCNH teaching is evidence based, candidates without any science background will have difficulty following the courses on our Pre-Degree Diploma, hence the need to prepare them for future studies at BCNH.

Lectures are held at weekends in the heart of central London at University College London - UCL (off Gower Street or Malet Street).

The nearest tube stations are Euston Square, Warren Street or Goodge Street.

BCNH provides tutorial support by telephone and email. One to one private tuition is also available.

What is included in the fee?
Course notes, lecture CDs, tutorial support and examination. Students must submit homework to the college by email. The college will then email back model answers. Students mark their own homework.

How can I enrol on the course?
1. You need to complete a BCNH Interview Form
2. You need to have a one to one interview with a member of BCNH academic team
3. If your interview is successful, you can enrol on the course

Questions & Answers
Q: Is the course length sufficient to prepare me for Diploma or Degree studies?
The SFC (9 months in length) will give students sufficient scientific knowledge to enable them to follow the topics on the Pre-Degree Diploma, including the course delivered by UG.

Q: What is the difference between SFC, Self study SFC and Short SFC?
The attendance/combination SFC (9 months in length) is an attendance course with twice a week tutorial support. The start date is once a year – usually in October.

Self study SFC is identical in content to the attendance SFC, however, students are distance learners and can start the course at any point during the academic year.

The Short SFC is a revision course (flexible start) for those who have completed their A levels more than 10 years ago. It involves the same educational material as SFC and Self study, but does not include tutorial support and there is no final examination.

Q: Why do I need to complete a Science Foundation Course?
BCNH teaching is evidence based. Candidates without any science background will have difficulty following the modules on the Pre-Degree Diploma, hence the need to prepare students for future studies at BCNH. We also set a very high standard for our courses as we believe this enables students to become confident, safe and successful NT Practitioners.

Equal Opportunities
BCNH is firmly committed to pursuing equal opportunities for all. We have an Equal Opportunities Policy and Code of Practice and in accordance with this policy, students can expect access to all student services and equal treatment, which does not discriminate on the grounds of sex, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, age or disability.
