Professional Graduate Diploma in IT

The Professional Graduate Diploma in IT level (incorporating PGD project) of BCS Professional Examinations is the academic equivalent to a UK university honours degree and is recognised by the Qualification and Curriculum Authority (QCA) as level 6. The course is designed to provide students comprehensive knowledge and understanding of advanced database management systems, management information systems, knowledge based systems, web engineering etc. Upon successful completion of the project and examination students can apply for selected postgraduate courses with UK universities. It will also enable student to apply for BCS Membership (MBCS).

The course focuses on the following modules:

  • Advanced Database Management Systems
  • Management information Systems
  • Software Engineering 2
  • Computer Services Management
  • Distributed and Parallel Systems (April only)
  • Knowledge Based Systems (April only)
  • Network Information Systems (April only)
  • Programming Paradigms (April only)
  • Realising the User Interface (April only)
  • System Design Methods (April only)
  • Web Engineering (April only)

Professional Project: In order to complete the Professional Graduate Diploma in IT level candidates must complete a project with recommended minimum study time of 300 hours.

Entry Requirements:

  • Students with BCS Diploma in IT or Equivalent
  • Minimum age must be 19 years old
  • IELTS minimum 5.5 or above

Teaching and Assessments:

The course is delivered through a combination of lectures, supervised tutorials, project works, assignments and periodic tests. The course culminates in 3 hour written examinations on each of the four modules of your choice. Practical experience is also required to answer some parts of the examination. Completion of the Professional Project is also required at this level.

Course Fee : £3550 (Excluding registration and examination fees)

Awarding Body : British Computer Society (BCS)
