Throughout the academic year you will take part in a broad range of activities that include working within the commercial salon as a therapist but also receiving treatments from your co-students. As well as learning practical skills you will gain essential knowledge in the areas of anatomy, health and safety as well as general working practices within the beauty industry. Working on clients is an essential element of this course and you will have the opportunity to invite in your own paying clients for the purpose of completing assessments. You are required to wear a full therapy uniform available through the college and you will need to purchase the relevant kit for the course.

Entry Requirements
You will need A minimum of four GCSEs at grade D or above which include English and maths or a suitable qualification at Level 1 in Beauty or Salon Services.
Delivery and Assessment
Assessment is on-going throughout the course through a combination of observation, written course work, exams & presentations.
Progression
After completing the essential beauty therapist programme you may wish to further your education perhaps choosing to study a Level 3 course in a particular specialism, or for a Level 3 apprenticeship, earning whilst you continue to learn. The industry offers different routes of employment, local salons, spas or working in the retail industry on a cosmetic counter. Alternatively you may choose to work for yourself as a mobile therapist.
