Description
Spa therapy is a skilled profession that can provide a satisfying and rewarding career. NVQ Level 3 is aimed at Beauty and Spa Therapists and covers a high level of skills and knowledge and is the progression from NVQ level 2 or equivalent. Trainees will be expected to work as part of a team in a salon environment and activities will include body massage, corrective facial and body therapies incorporating electrical and mechanical treatments on the face and body and spa therapies. There are several opportunities for qualified therapists to work overseas, in health spas. Most of the large cruise liners take on therapists to work in their beauty salons, usually on short-term contracts. Some airlines, such as Virgin Atlantic, also employ therapists to work on their long haul flights. The demand for qualified Spa Therapists has lead to the creation of several posts in training and lecturing.
