This is a one year programme which provides an introduction to the world of beauty therapy covering the important role of assisting and supporting therapists in the workplace. As part of the programme learners will also complete essential skills. Opportunities will also be provided for GCSEs in English, Welsh and Mathematics and for Welsh language development.

About this course

Progression and Employment:
This qualification will provide a progression route to a Level 2 in beauty therapy either through full time college provision or a foundation apprenticeship in the work place.

Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Beauty Therapy

  • Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
  • Contribute to the development of effective working relationships
  • Prepare and maintain salon treatment work areas

Optional Units:

  • Assist with facial skincare treatments
  • Assist with nail services

Additional information

Method of Assessment Continuous practical assessments are undertaken through observations on clients. During the course students will compile a portfolio of evidence, consisting of oral questions, written tests, assignments and treatment planning. Bilingual units are available.
